If you get a metal detecting because you are expecting to find a chest full of gold, then save your money and don’t buy a detector. But if you enjoy digging up old, historical items that have been in the ground for years, relaxation beyond belief and the slight possibility of finding something valuable, then go get a metal detector now! No, it’s not for everyone…I agree with that. But some of us cannot get off of work fast enough just so we can drive to the nearest field and do some hunting.

The buckles with the deteriorate leather. Could they be for harnesses used to harness teams to wagons or plows? Given what you said about the history of the place.

I think it’s an old cufflink with the post missing. The symbol looks Jewish to me.

I know many, many detectorists and one thing that is so interesting is the definition of “junk.” One man I know has the most fascinating finds…old guns, gold rings, old coins…but he also keeps things in his treasure display that most people consider junk, like unidentified pieces of iron, etc. And he’d shoot someone for stealing the “junk” just like he would someone stealing the real treasure. Thank you so much for watching! We love our Canadian viewers.

I’m a newbie , But this vid has given me a new perspective on things . I borrow a friend of mines old detector because she just got a top of the line new one (she hates ) And I just have to say I hold a new respect on what I have found and what I have left as junk :( , A Canadian watcher .

It’s fun to hunt populated areas where people lose things everyday, but it is also fun to go to places like this where people used to hang out or live and now they don’t. We find much older stuff. Thanks for the comment.

  24. UrbanTreasureHunter says:

    Thanks!
